Free Vintage Clip Art - Vintage Japanese Silk Label Trade Card

A beautiful Japanese Silk Label Trade Card today

Isn't this pretty?

China was the world's largest producer of silk for over 3,000 years.  A trade route that ran from China to the Mediterranean Sea was called the "Silk Road".  Silk was considered  even more valuable than gold and was often traded for precious metals and high valued items.
After World War II Japan had become the biggest producer of raw silk and is still today a major producer of silk.

I hope you enjoy this lovely silk trade card!

Free Vintage Clip Art - Alice in Wonderland Paper Dolls

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland - commonly known as Alice in Wonderland was written in 1865 by English author Charles Lutwidge Dodgson who used the pseudonym Lewis Caroll.  The first print run sold out quickly and was a publishing sensation.  It has never been out of print.  Queen Victoria and a young Oscar Wilde were among the first readers.  Alice's Adventures in Wonderland has been translated into 125 languages and there has now been over a hundred editions of the book.

I thought you might like this version of Alice as a paper doll.

Free Vintage Clip Art - Vintage Evening in Paris Perfume Poster

I have been waiting to bring you this wonderful vintage perfume poster and with fall definitely in the air here in the great Pacific Northwest I thought today was as good as any.

This is one of Bourjois' classic ads for their Evening in Paris perfume .

I think this ad is stunning!

Bourjois is owned by the Wertheimer family, who also owns Chanel.   Based in New York City, Bourjois wanted to concur the American perfume market and wanted a scent that the everyday woman would love and could afford.  So in the late 1920's perfumer Ernest Beaux created a floral perfume in a cobalt blue bottle and they named it Evening in Paris.  It was an instant success here in the US and was introduced in France as Soir de Paris.  Evening in Paris was discontinued in 1969 and then a new version was released in 1991.

The cobalt blue bottles are very collectible today.

Free Vintage Clip Art - Vintage Spanish Tomato Label

Happy September Everyone!

This is my favorite time of the year.  The kids are going back to school, the weather is cooling down (thank goodness!) and if we are lucky, we have a bountiful harvest awaiting us in our gardens.
Tomatoes are one of my favorite things to grow.  I remember our first tomato harvest after acquiring our two Labrador Retrievers.  My husband was picking the first ripened tomatoes and Molly, our sweet little lab girl, was watching him pick them.  And she got so excited and started jumping up and down and as I watched her I realized she thought my husband was picking balls, her favorite thing in the world.  She actually thought we were growing balls for her! We still laugh about that it because it was so funny.

So in honor of our little girl Molly here is a lovely vintage Spanish tomato label.  Enjoy the harvest!
