Telephones are such a huge part of our lives and I can only image what an exciting invention it was at the time.

Alexander Graham Bell was the first person to receive a patent for the electronic telephone by the US Patent and Trademark office in 1876.
By the end of 2009 there were nearly 6 billion mobile and land line subscribers worldwide!
